The Evidence
The Numbers That Change Minds

These are not marketing claims. These are peer-reviewed findings from large-scale meta-analyses — the strongest form of scientific evidence. As an AURUM coach, you must know these numbers. They are the foundation of every client conversation.

23%
All-cause mortality reduced
Regular strength training — Stamatakis et al., 2018, n=80,000+
58%
Lower T2D incidence
Consistent resistance training — multiple meta-analyses, Scott et al., 2020
40%
Chronic back pain reduction
Targeted posterior chain strengthening — Gordon et al., 2016
19%
Cardiovascular event reduction
Regular RT in adults — Liu et al., 2019, meta-analysis of 1.5M participants

Why These Numbers Matter

A client on the fence needs data, not enthusiasm. A sceptical GP needs research, not promises. A health insurer needs evidence, not anecdote. Know the sources. Cite them with confidence.

The AURUM Delivery

These outcomes are accessible to every AURUM client — professional or senior, athlete or rehabilitation client — because AURUM removes every barrier to consistent training: time, injury risk, complexity, and effort.

Longevity Science
Muscle Is the
Organ of Longevity

The relationship between muscle mass, muscle strength, and longevity is one of the most robust findings in modern medicine. Skeletal muscle is not merely the tissue that moves us — it is an endocrine organ that regulates metabolism, inflammation, and resilience.

1

All-cause mortality (23% reduction)

Stamatakis et al. (2018): even just 1–2x/week of resistance training reduces all-cause mortality by 23%. The AURUM protocol exceeds this minimum.

2

Muscle as Emergency Reserve

In critical illness, trauma, surgery, or infection, the body catabolises muscle to fuel recovery. Individuals with greater muscle mass survive acute health events at significantly higher rates.

3

VO2max and Longevity

VO2max is the single strongest predictor of all-cause mortality. Muscle mass supports higher VO2max — strength and aerobic capacity are not opposites.

4

Biological Aging Markers

Grip strength, gait speed, and chair-rise time are validated biological age markers. All three improve with AURUM training.

5

The Physician's Perspective

Dr. Peter Attia (Outlive, 2023): 'If I had to choose one intervention to extend healthspan — not just lifespan — it would be resistance training.' AURUM is the most efficient delivery vehicle for this intervention.

Metabolism
Every Kilogram of Muscle Burns More Calories. Forever.

Skeletal muscle is metabolically expensive tissue — it demands energy even at rest. This makes building muscle the most durable strategy for long-term metabolic health and body composition management.

Resting Metabolic Rate

The Passive Calorie Burn

Each kg of muscle tissue burns approximately 13 kcal/day at rest — compared to 4.5 kcal/day for fat tissue. A client who gains 3kg of muscle through AURUM increases their resting energy expenditure by ~25 kcal/day. Compounded over months, this shifts body composition permanently without diet restriction.

Insulin Sensitivity

The Diabetes Prevention Engine

Skeletal muscle is the primary site of insulin-mediated glucose uptake (>80% of postprandial glucose disposal). Increasing muscle mass dramatically improves insulin sensitivity — both acutely (post-exercise) and chronically (with consistent training). This is the mechanism behind the 58% T2D incidence reduction.

EPOC — The Afterburn

Calorie Burn Continues Post-Session

Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) elevates metabolism for 24–48 hours post high-intensity resistance training. AURUM's maximal-intensity 6-minute protocol produces a substantial EPOC effect — additional calorie burn long after the session ends.

Visceral Fat Reduction

The Most Dangerous Fat

Visceral adipose tissue — fat surrounding organs — is the primary driver of metabolic disease risk. Resistance training is uniquely effective at reducing visceral fat (compared to steady-state cardio). AURUM clients see visceral fat reduction on InBody scans within 8–12 weeks of consistent training.

Structural Benefits
Building the Skeleton
That Holds You Together

Bone density peaks in the late 20s and declines steadily thereafter — accelerating rapidly in women post-menopause. Resistance training is the most effective stimulus for maintaining and increasing bone mineral density at any age.

1

Mechanical Loading → Osteoblast Activation

When muscle applies force to bone, osteoblasts (bone-building cells) are activated. This is Wolff's Law: bone adapts to the loads placed upon it. No loading = bone loss.

2

Osteoporosis Prevention

Post-menopausal women lose 1–2% bone density annually without intervention. Resistance training reduces this loss and in some studies reverses it. Hip and spine are the critical sites.

3

Back Pain Reduction (40%)

The most common complaint in AURUM's demographic. Torso Extension and Row directly strengthen the posterior chain — the primary musculature supporting the lumbar spine. Evidence-based reduction in chronic lower back pain.

4

Arthritis Management

Controlled isokinetic resistance — unlike ballistic loading — reduces joint pain in osteoarthritis. The machine protects the joint while strengthening the surrounding musculature.

5

Joint Stability

Stronger muscles around joints (especially knee, hip, shoulder) reduce instability, decrease pain, and improve functional mobility.

Heart Health
Resistance Training and the Heart

The cardiovascular benefits of resistance training are often underestimated — overshadowed by the perception that only aerobic exercise protects the heart. The evidence tells a different story.

19% CVD reduction

Cardiovascular Event Risk

Liu et al. (2019): meta-analysis of over 1.5 million participants. Regular resistance training reduces cardiovascular disease event risk by 19%, independent of aerobic exercise.

4–8 mmHg reduction

Resting Blood Pressure

Multiple meta-analyses confirm RT reduces resting systolic BP by 4–8 mmHg and diastolic BP by 2–4 mmHg. This is clinically significant — equivalent to first-line antihypertensive effects.

Lipid Profile Improvement

Cholesterol Management

Regular RT consistently reduces LDL cholesterol ('bad') and triglycerides while maintaining or increasing HDL ('good'). Mechanism: improved insulin sensitivity and upregulated lipoprotein lipase activity.

Cardiac Output Adaptation

Long-term RT increases stroke volume (blood pumped per heartbeat) and reduces resting heart rate. The heart becomes more efficient — protecting against cardiac events.

Capillarisation

Resistance training promotes angiogenesis — growth of new capillaries in trained muscle. Improved oxygen delivery reduces cardiac workload during everyday activities.

Neuroscience
The Brain Gets
Stronger Too

The cognitive benefits of resistance training are among the most exciting recent findings in exercise science — and among the most persuasive for AURUM's professional and senior demographics.

1

BDNF — The Brain Growth Factor

Exercise — especially high-intensity resistance training — is the most potent trigger of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) release. BDNF promotes neuroplasticity, neurogenesis, and synaptic strength. It literally grows your brain.

2

Executive Function

Meta-analyses confirm that RT significantly improves executive function — planning, attention, inhibition, and working memory — in adults of all ages. Particularly pronounced in adults over 60.

3

Dementia Risk Reduction

Regular physical activity, including RT, is associated with a 30–35% reduced risk of dementia onset. Muscle mass is now considered a proxy biomarker for cognitive reserve.

4

Depression and Anxiety

Resistance training is as effective as antidepressants for mild-to-moderate depression in multiple meta-analyses (Schuch et al., 2018). Anxiety symptoms reduce significantly with regular RT.

5

Sleep Quality

Regular RT improves both sleep duration and sleep quality — reducing latency (time to fall asleep) and increasing slow-wave (deep) sleep. Cascades into better recovery and mood.

Applied Communication
Translating Science into Stories Your Clients Understand

Knowing the statistics is the prerequisite. Communicating them in a way that lands emotionally and motivates action is the skill.

By Persona

Personalise the Evidence

Professional (Hanspeter, 50M): '23% lower mortality risk, 19% cardiovascular protection — these are your health insurance.' Senior (Christiane, 73F): 'Bone density, fall prevention, independence — this is what keeps you in your own home.' Mother (Sandra, 39F): 'Energy for your family, cognitive sharpness, body confidence.' Athlete (Lorenz, 33M): 'BDNF improves reaction time and decision-making. Your brain gets faster too.'

The Stacking Method

Benefits Are Cumulative

No single benefit closes every client. Stack the relevant ones. 'You told me you have back pain — we address that directly with Torso Extension. Your father had a heart attack — you get cardiovascular protection. You're worried about your weight — muscle burns more calories all day. Three problems. One 6-minute solution.'

Concrete Analogies

Make it Visceral

'Your muscles are your health insurance policy.' 'Every session is a deposit into a retirement account your body can't take away.' 'A person with more muscle handles illness, surgery, and aging the way a thick hull handles rough seas.' Analogies land where statistics don't.

Use the Data

Numbers Beat Claims

Post-session: 'Your Output was 180W today — up from 145W six weeks ago. That's a 24% increase in functional strength. Your body is responding exactly as the research predicts.' Personalised data is more persuasive than any published study.
