Courses / Further Education / Module 9: Mental Health & Sport
Understand the profound relationship between physical activity and mental wellbeing. Learn to recognise stress, burnout, anxiety, and depression in your clients — and know when and how to use exercise therapeutically, and when to refer to a mental health professional.
Part of the Further Education track — required for annual recertification.
Mental health affects every aspect of a client's training: their motivation to show up, their ability to recover, their response to feedback, and their capacity to enjoy the process. As a coach, you are often one of the most consistent relationships in a client's weekly life — this comes with both opportunity and responsibility.
This module covers the neurobiological benefits of exercise on mental health, how to recognise common mental health challenges in clients, the stress-recovery model applied to training load, overtraining syndrome, and professional boundaries in the coach role.
Client acquisition, retention strategies, and building a thriving AURUM business.
